Dec - 2 week 4 year
Back home after a day at work, I was looking forward to relaxing in my bed for a bit until dinner time, but it didn't go as I thought.
Katie came to me because she wanted me to help her put up the Christmas decorations.
My uncles wanted to put up the Christmas decorations, but with work, the baby and household chores, they kept putting it off.
Katie was frustrated, she wanted Christmas decorations, a tree decorated with lights, Christmas has to have these things.
Katie begged me and pulled me off the bed until I gave in, I wasn't too thrilled but I realized I wouldn't be able to rest until I helped her.
The boxes with the decorations had been in the living room for over a week.
The boxes with the decorations had been in the living room for over a week, waiting to be unpacked.
Katie wanted to put the tree up first, so we did.
Katie's enthusiasm was contagious, seeing the children's joy for Christmas warms the heart.
I admit it took us a little longer because we got distracted by playing with the decorations along the way.
Katie showed no signs of wanting to slow down, at least we were going to get everything done that day.
The last decoration was some Christmas lights that Katie wanted to put on the porch.
It had already turned dark and it was cold, so we had to wear warm clothes and gloves to set up the lights.
In previous years, my parents were not interested in Christmas, so I decorated my house by myself, but it was more out of obligation, I was forcing myself to be happy during the Christmas season, which made me not like Christmas.
In this time when more attention is given to the family, it makes me think more about my parents, especially my mother.
I'm still hurt at my mom, and she doesn't want to see me, but I can't help but feel sorry for her, even with my uncle trying to take care of her, she's very lonely this time of year.
