HMS Ingrid
~HMS Ingrid~
The sixth ship of the Princess Class long range cruiser, named after past princesses of the Throin dynasty.
Built in the aftermath of the great war. the ships of the class was design to protect the Throin empire's distant colonies. Designed by the maverick Sky admiral Rander, who favour manoeuvre warfare over a decisive action, the Princess class ships represented the Admiral's ideas. These classes of ship boost some of the longest range capabilities and by limiting it's armor protection to only key areas of the ships, the ships were able to reach 26 knots.
However, due to opposition within the Admiralty and budget constrains, the Admiral's original plans to mount 10 inches main guns was rejected and instead replaced with 8 inches short barrels. While this means the ships will be unable to defend themselves against or cruisers, the Admiralty argue that this will not be an issue as the Admiralty did not foresee war in the near future, which was proven correct.
HMS Ingrid was sent to the Far South Station, serving as escort for the trade convoys prying the pirate infested trade lanes. Painted with bright contrasting colors of the Southern Colonies, HMS Ingrid is a major deterrents to local pirates as her high speed and manoeuvrability allowed her to chase down or react to any pirate activity.
Ingrid was to become one of the last surviving ship of her class, as the Throin empire begins to loss it's far flung colonies due to revolutions and rising smog cloud levels. 3 ships of her class were recalled to the capital and scrapped, while the lead ship of her class, HMS Alexandre was destroyed after she struck a powerful pirate's mine during one of her anti piracy patrol sweep.
After 20 years of service, Ingrid was also stated to go to the scraps before fate intervened.
